Mindful Monday- Shed Away The Dead

BY MISTY JENNEIAHN
Patient: Doctor it hurts whenever I do this.
Doctor: Then stop doing that.
Shed. What's. Dead.
When it comes to letting go there are plenty of resources for good advice on the subject.  From Marie Kondo’s “Life Changing Magic of Tidying up” to a million other self help books, we get that letting go is good,  but do we really get how necessary it is for our evolution?
If you take a good practical look at the questions “How do I want to live or What compass will I use to direct my life?", are your behaviors and ideas aligning with that chosen direction? If not, you may need to let go of some stuff.
If for example, you want to live bravely, it would be important to be aware of the ways that you play it safe. What specifically is hindering your progress? If you want to meet new friends but only talk to people you already know at parties you attend, you might want to look at that.
Of course like every growing organism you have protective layers that serve you, like your skin, or the knowledge that running into traffic would be dangerous but as you grow and evolve, some of those protective layers become constricting. Growth depends upon your ability to soften, unbind and shed what is no longer needed so that you can expand. With awareness, there is choice.
So how do you know what to let go of?
We found this great article “12 Signs It’s Time for You To Let Go” that we found helpful.
Hope you have a MINDFUL and expansive week!
